Christmas day standoff results in charges

Dec 28, 2017 | 12:53 PM

The sight of RCMP personnel with weapons drawn along with ambulances on standby was the last thing residents in a North Battleford neighbourhood expected to see on Christmas morning.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 25, Battlefords RCMP responded to a complaint of domestic violence at a residence on the 800 block of 109th St.

That same morning a 30-year-old male was taken into custody. He is facing three charges including assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats. Those inside the residence did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of this incident, according to police. The accused was remanded into custody and made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court this morning.
