Dec 8, 2017 | 7:00 AM

The Battlefords AAA Stars won their third straight game on Thursday evening, this time picking up a 5-2 victory on the road over the Beardy’s Blackhawks.

They are now 10-10 this season, which has them in a tie for eighth place in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings.

Joseph Young was stellar on Thursday, recording 44 saves for his fourth win of the season. It was also the fourth time in 12 starts this year that he has made at least 40 saves.

Young also had the only assist on Adam Beckman’s empty-net goal with 2:27 to go in the third period, which put the game out of reach at 5-1.

Beckman and Ty Mosimann continued to pile up the points for Battlefords, as Beckman had a hat-trick and an assist, while Mosimann had one goal and two helpers. The duo are each on five-game point streaks, Beckman with 13 points in his last five and Mosimann with 11 points in his last five.

The 16-year-old Beckman now has 17 goals and 14 assists in 18 games, and Mosimann has seven goals and 24 assists in 20 games. Their 31 points apiece are tied for the fifth-best in the league.

Five other Stars recorded one point in the win: North Battleford native Luke Fennig had a goal, while Dylan Esau, Matthew Flodell, Shayde Peterson, and Trey Stocker each had one assist.

The Stars are home for a double-header this weekend that will not be easy, as they welcome the third-place Tisdale Trojans to town. Tisdale currently has a 15-4-1-3 record.

Saturday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s game is set for 2 p.m.
