2 males with ‘serious injuries’ after robbery and assault

Two men were taken to hospital with what police are calling “serious injuries” after a robbery and assault with a weapon over the weekend in North Battleford.

According to Battlefords RCMP, police were called to a residence on the 9000 block of Panton Avenue at 3:58 p.m. for a call of a robbery and assault.

The initial investigation revealed a 23-year-old male entered the residence where there was another adult male, and adult female and two youth inside.

RCMP said an altercation occurred, resulting in serious injuries to the two males. The 23-year-old male who entered the residence was taken to hospital and placed under arrest, while the other adult male was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The adult female was treated for minor injuries and the two youths were not physically injured in the altercation.

Police do not believe this was a random incident and multiple units including General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Services and the Battlefords RCMP detachment are involved in the investigation. More details, including details of charges laid, will be provided as they become available.

RCMP said updates will be provided as they become available and ask anyone with information on this or anything other crime to contact the Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Battlefords RCMP responded to 182 calls for service over the weekend.
