Silvernagle opens Pinty’s Challenge with win

North Battleford’s Robyn Silvernagle is off to a good start after the opening draw of the 2017 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Tour Challenge in Regina this week.

The Silvernagle foursome scored two points in each of the final two ends to defeat Anna Sidorova of Russia 9-5 on Tuesday.

The Silvernagle rink consists of lead Kara Thevenot of Birch Hills, second stone Dayna Demers of Meadow Lake and mate Jolene Campbell of Saskatoon, who joined the team following the departure of Cristina Goertzen during the off-season.

This week’s tournament features many of the top curlers from around the world including 2017 Canadian and World Men’s Champion Brad Gushue from Newfoundland, four-time World Champion Glenn Howard of Ontario and 2017 World Women’s Champion Rachel Homan of Ottawa.
