Environment Canada issues Air Quality Statement

Aug 14, 2017 | 12:14 PM

Smoke from the recent B.C. forest fires has spread into the western parts of Saskatchewan prompting Environment Canada to issue an Air Quality Statement that includes the Battlefords and surrounding area.

The smoke could cause poor air quality and reduced visibility in some areas.

Environment Canada says seniors, children and people with lung diseases such as asthma and COPD are especially at risk. Individuals may also experience coughing, throat irritation, and shortness of breath.

Areas included in the statement are the R.M. of Buffalo, Meota, the R.M. of Paynton, Edam and Turtle River.
