U.S. border patrol confirmed more information following a case of human smuggling at the border with Saskatchewan.

The incident happened Friday, April 14, 2017 and those involved were apprehended on the American side of the border. The incident did not happen at an official border crossing.

In a media advisory, the RCMP only said that charges were laid on Saturday, April 15 and “related to an investigation into asylum seekers crossing the border into Saskatchewan”.

The RCMP had scheduled a news conference to provide more details on Tuesday afternoon, but that conference will now take place Wednesday morning.
