Volunteers make return season less “taxing”

Mar 1, 2017 | 1:47 PM

If you need to get your 2016 tax return done but have a low income, the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre is there to help.

“Individuals who make under $30,000, couples who make under $40,000 and an individual with a dependant who made less than $35,000 last year all qualify for this free service,” Jody Thomas said, manager of the resource centre.

Last year, Thomas said the centre filed more than 500 personal income tax forms, and just one day into this year’s clinic he said the phones are already buzzing.

“We have a steady stream of calls today,” Thomas added. “A lot of appointments have been booked today, and we have had several calls and ask when we are open.”
