Saskatoon police are investigating what they’re calling the city’s first murder of 2017.

Police joined firefighters and paramedics responding to a call about an injured man at a home on Avenue I South just before midnight Wednesday.

They found a 45-year-old man who appeared to have been assaulted. The man died of his injuries after being taken to Royal University Hospital for treatment.

In a media release issued late Thursday morning, police stated the man’s family asked that his name not be released.
