CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed fullback Charlie Power to a contract extension.

The 25-year-old from Okotoks, Alta., was eligible for free agency in February.

Power, a fourth-round draft pick by Calgary in 2013, has played 33 regular-season games for the Stampeders.

The University of Saskatchewan product’s career stats include 26 special-teams tackles, a pair of forced fumbles, a defensive tackle, a blocked punt and three catches for 10 yards.

Power compiled 17 special-teams tackles, a defensive tackle, a blocked punt and a forced fumble appearing in all 18 regular-season games for Calgary in 2016.

He totalled three special-teams tackles in the division final and Grey Cup.

“Charlie has done a great job improving his skills as a core special-teams player,” Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel said Monday in a statement. “I look forward to his continued growth on offence.”

Hufnagel got started on signing potential free agents last week when the kicking tandem of Rob Maver and Rene Paredes inked contract extensions.
