RCMP again urge residents to lock up cars, houses

Nov 24, 2016 | 1:00 PM

Battlefords RCMP want to remind residents to lock their cars, houses and garages after a rash of break-ins.

Police said there have been many thefts from vehicles, stolen vehicles, and residences broken into recently. Many of the stolen vehicles were unlocked with keys left in them. A media release from local RCMP said residents need to be extra cautious when leaving cars running to warm up in cold weather, because it’s an easy opportunity for someone to steal a car.

After several homes and garages in North Battleford were broken into in one night on Nov. 21, RCMP made an arrest. Charges are pending for the man involved.

The police encourage anyone with information about break and enter incidents and thefts to contact Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
