Battlefords post office on the market for $425,000

After being deserted for over a year, the post office in the town of Battleford is up for sale.

An email from Canada Post spokesperson, Jon Hamilton, confirmed the building’s sale with battlefordsNOW.

After a bat infestation last fall, Canada Post was forced out of the 115-year-old building, and into a temporary location on 35 St. W. According to Hamilton’s email, the current location is where operations will remain for the time being.

The plan is to sell the historic building before finding a new downtown location.

“With the decision to sell, Canada Post hopes to find a buyer that is able to fully utilize the building before exploring a new, permanent location in the downtown core,” the email states.

The building can be seen posted on the IRC Commercial Real Estate Saskatchewan site with $425,000 as the asking price.

Hamilton said the mayor’s office was informed of the plans, but they could not be reached for comment by deadline.
