Son arrested in death of father on farm near Kerrobert

Nov 4, 2016 | 11:05 AM

A 26-year-old man from Kerrobert, Sask., has been charged in the suspicious death of his father.

It all happened in the early morning of Nov. 2, when Kindersley RCMP received a call about a stolen semi from a farm north of Kerrobert. Another call came in to the RCMP about the sudden death of a 53-year-old man at a home in Kerrobert. Officers went to the home and found the body of Johan Klassen Sr.

RCMP found the stolen semi in a slough near the Alberta border, northwest of Luseland in the RM of Heart’s Hill. RCMP said it was in approximately four feet of water and about 30 metres from shore.

Police said a man inside would not exit the semi. Officers contained the scene and the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team was deployed.

At around 2 p.m., Johan Klassen Jr. was safely taken into custody and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Nov. 4 at 9 a.m.
