Maidstone RCMP moving into new detachment

Sep 15, 2016 | 6:57 AM

Maidstone RCMP are making the move to a new detachment after nearly two years of construction.

Construction of the new building started in October 2014 and employees will be settled in by Monday morning, Sept. 19.

According to a news release, the current detachment will be closed for the rest of the week to front-counter services such as criminal record checks to make moving between buildings easier. RCMP will still respond to calls for service and emergency service will not be interrupted.

The new building, on Fourth Ave. E. in Maidstone, will open at 8 a.m. Monday. It will be home to 28 employees.
