UPDATE: Don McMorris pleads guilty to driving impaired

Sep 7, 2016 | 8:17 AM

Former Saskatchewan deputy premier Don McMorris pleaded guilty to impaired driving Wednesday morning.

McMorris, who was also the minister responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority and Saskatchewan Government Insurance, resigned from cabinet after being charged.

“I know better, I absolutely know better,” he said last month when the news broke. “The issue is I got behind the wheel when I shouldn’t have and I will be forever sorry, it’s unacceptable.”

McMorris was driving home from Fort Qu’Appelle when he was pulled over on Aug. 5. The minister declined to say what his blood alcohol level was when he was stopped, but added he would be seeking counseling.
