Police say a man threatened to stab somebody Monday afternoon in North Battleford.

Battlefords RCMP said the man allegedly asked to use the victim’s phone and when the victim refused, the suspect threatened to stab them. The victim fled the scene in the area of 19th Ave. and Territorial Dr. and was not pursued or harmed at all, according to an RCMP news release. The suspect is described as First Nations and in his 20s and at the time was wearing a white shirt, black pants and white bandana.

Unrelated to the threat, a man linked to a break-in on Sunday, Aug. 28 was arrested the next day after a report of an attempted break-in on 108th St. The 21-year-old man was arrested near the scene Monday afternoon and charges are pending.

RCMP also received several complaints of cars being gone through. On Monday there were four reports of cars being gone through in West Park overnight with one having had change stolen from it, a report of a vehicle on Meighen Cres. having electronics stolen from it overnight, and a report of a vehicle on 100th St. being gone through the previous evening. At roughly 1:20 a.m. Tuesday RCMP responded to a complaint of young males trying to open car doors on 29th St. in Battleford. Two suspects were located and identified a short time later. Police said the incident is still under investigation.
