A new hotel is officially under construction in North Battleford.

The Comfort Inn and Suites broke ground Friday, Aug. 26 in front of local investors and community representatives at its location behind Frontier Centre in North Battleford.

Billy Coles, President of CCR Hospitality and BCP Construction, said this hotel is bringing a lot to the community and his business, personally.

“It’s going to allow people to stay in a new facility,” he said. “Hopefully it will encourage new restaurants to come to town, which is new business, so that’s exciting for us to be part of the beginnings of that.”

Coles said the hotel is expected to be up and running in September 2017. He said the foundation is planned to be finished before the first frost this year. Individual rooms are built as units in construction plants and transported, so winter won’t present much of an obstacle.

He said the company is lucky to have roughly 20 local investors and plenty of residents working on the project. Starting next week, some local companies will begin providing materials like rock and piping.
