Three men still at large after armed robbery at hotel bar

A night out with friends turned into a nightmare when a bar was robbed at gun point.

Police and witnesses say three men with hoods and a double barrelled shotgun came into the bar at the Windsor Hotel in Battleford on Friday night, Aug. 12 and took money from the cash register during service hours.

“I went to the Windsor with some friends after work. About three guys walked in and flashed a gun. We all had to give statements. It was really scary. I’m lucky to be alive,” a patron at the bar said. Fearing retaliation they asked not to be identified.

According to Joon Ho Jang, the supervisor working at Windsor during the robbery, roughly $800 was stolen.

“I was outside smoking and when I tried to get back in it felt like someone was blocking the door. Once I got in, I saw the guys run out of the bar. The person working the bar just gave them whatever was in the register,” Jang said.

According to RCMP, the three fled the scene in a red pickup truck with a chrome or silver push bar. The picture officers received of the truck was from the front so they were unable to obtain a license plate number.

Cpl. Jeff Carter said investigators believe the car to be stolen as they received a report from Glaslyn of a missing vehicle matching the description.

The only description of the three males the RCMP released is that all three are First Nations and one has a tattoo of what might be a Chinese character on his neck.

RCMP received a surveillance video from the property owner which officers will review internally to see if any members recognize the assailants before releasing the tape publicly.
