To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame is going on tour.

The exhibit will stop in St. Walburg on Monday, Aug. 15 before travelling to Meadow Lake on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Autumn McDowell, communications co-ordinator for the hall of fame, said there’s a little something for everyone, including a piece of an old Roughriders goal post and Olympic torches from the 1988 and 2010 games.

“Just the memories and prestige which go along with the Olympics,” she said of the fan favourites. “Obviously with it on right now people have the Olympic fever as well.”

Other fan favorites include an original red and black Riders jersey, photos and memorabilia items.

Wednesday, Aug. 17 the exhibit stops in the M.L. Provincial Park before continuing on to the Battlefords Provincial Park on Friday, Aug. 19 and then the town proper for the next two days. It will also make its way towards Prince Albert and area.

Inductees have been known to arrive when the exhibit is in their home town. McDowell said they won’t know who will appear, if they appear, until the day of.

“Lots of times they don’t tell us and surprise us. Even then they might not say they’re an inductee so you never know who’ll stop by,” she said.

All exhibit stops can be found online.

Those who can’t make it out, or want to see the exhibit again will have an opportunity when the tour begins again next summer.
