Council approves upcoming election plans

Voters and potential candidates won’t be seeing anything too different when they head to the polls in Battleford.
It was decided at Town Council on Monday, July 18 there would be no required criminal record check of candidates, no voters’ list and no bylaw regarding campaign contributions and expenses. None of those items had been required by previous councils.
The call for nominations begins no later then Sept. 6 with the deadline being 4 p.m. on Sept. 21. Potential candidates wishing to withdraw their nomination must do so by 4 p.m. on Sept. 22.
Advance polls are on Oct. 18 with Election Day being Oct. 26. The Alex Dillabough Centre is the polling place for both dates.
