Apparent sampling error extends N.B. water advisory

Jul 14, 2016 | 5:50 PM

What’s being called a water sampling error has extended the North Battleford precautionary drinking water advisory.

Patrick Boyle, a spokesman for the Water Security Agency, said the advisory issued Wednesday, July 6 would likely be extended another 24 hours and hopefully be lifted for the weekend.

“It just all depends on the turnaround time and back from the lab so once we see those results, verify them, then we can lift the advisory,” Boyle said.

He added some of the results they saw typically indicate an error.

“We suspect there’s a sampling error that occurred somewhere in the process. So in order to verify those results we’re asking for another sampling. The precautionary drinking water advisory will be extended until we verify those results,” Boyle explained.

Boyle said getting the results indicating an error are common and the second sampling is done to confirm it was only an error.
