Fire hydrant flushing could result in dirty water for some areas

Jun 28, 2016 | 3:18 PM

Residents in areas of the city may see discoloured water come out of their taps next month but authorities say it isn’t harmful.

The North Battleford Fire Department will begin testing the flow of fire hydrants on July 11. The neighbourhoods of Killdeer Park, Fairview Heights, College Heights, East and Deanscroft could be affected.

Authorities said that if your water is discoloured to let it run and eventually it will turn clear.

The National Fire Protection Association requires annual hydrant testing to provide insurance grading throughout Canada.
