Earl and Countess of Wessex to help celebrate Globe Theatre’s anniversary

The Earl and Countess of Wessex arrive in Regina Wednesday as the royal couple helps celebrate the golden anniversary of a theatre company.

It’s Prince Edward’s second visit to Saskatchewan in two years, but this marks the first time his wife, Sophie, has visited the city.

The royals are visiting to take part in the Globe Theatre’s 50th anniversary celebration. The Queen’s youngest son is their patron.

Those wishing to see the royal couple will want to attend the royal walkabout at Government House on Thursday afternoon.

The itinerary for the visit is as follows:

  • Wednesday, 2:45 p.m. Their Royal Highnesses arrive at the Regina International Airport to be greeted by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. 
  • 5:30 p.m. The Earl and Countess of Wessex arrive at the Globe Theatre’s 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration, with His Royal highness set to deliver the royal address later in the evening.
  • Thursday, 9 a.m. The royal couple arrives at the RCMP Heritage Centre to take a photo with RCMP officers.
  • 10:30 a.m. Edward and Sophie arrive at Government House where they will participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award presentation.
  • 12:20 p.m. The couple will take part in the Sovereign’s Medal presentation.
  • 2 p.m. Their Royal Highnesses will take part in a walkabout with the public on Ceremonial Drive.
