North Battleford remains in the middle of the pack, but is down slightly in the rankings of a national magazine’s Best Places to Live in Canada feature.

MoneySense rated North Battleford 113 out of 219 communities with at least 10,000 people. The city’s rank is down from last year’s ranking of 106. North Battleford is in the top 25 percentile in the “Low-Priced Homes,” “Affordable Housing,” and “Access to Health Care” categories.

The city’s ranking has traditionally been hurt by the local crime rate. But this year’s survey notes crime is down 8.6 per cent in the past five years.

Prince Albert is the only Saskatchewan community to rank lower in the survey, at 186. Weyburn, a newcomer to the report, was highest at 28, followed by Regina, which placed at 33.
