‘What a heartstopper’: Rush fans celebrate championship win

Jun 7, 2016 | 2:54 PM

The Saskatchewan Rush celebrated a championship season with fans on Tuesday.

A rally in the team’s honour was held at the Bessborough Gardens, giving people a chance to meet players, cheerleaders and of course – team mascot Bruiser the Bulldog.

Many fans said they were thrilled to have a championship team operating out of Saskatoon, including Bryan Graham; who said he was still recovering from Saturday’s championship win at SaskTel Centre.

“Man I watched the last few minutes of that game, it was all I was able to catch. Oh my God, what a heartstopper,” he said.

Graham said he thinks the team has a bright future in the Bridge City.

“Filling (Sasktel Centre), that’s incredible. If we had something bigger, I think there would have been more. We could fill Mosaic, I’m pretty sure. It’s incredible to see the excitement behind everyone at these games,” he said.

The Rush won the National Lacrosse League (NLL) championship with an 11-10 win over the Buffalo Bandits on June 4.

This was the team’s first season in Saskatchewan after relocating from Edmonton.
