The corporation that operates six casinos in Saskatchewan saw an increase in its net earnings in the fiscal year 2015-16.

According to a news release from the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA), net earnings were $86.3 million, on revenues of $258.3 million. The amount is up from $84.1 million, which is cited in the 2014-15 annual report.

SIGA is a non-profit owned by Saskatchewan First Nations, and operates the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford and the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert, as well as casinos in Swift Current, Yorkton, as well as the Carlyle and Saskatoon areas.

The provincial government distributes the profits according to a formula that sends half to a First Nations trust, one quarter to Community Development Corporations for local initiatives, and the remainder into general revenues. In the 20 years since the Gold Eagle first opened, representatives from SIGA said the authority has distributed profits of more than $950 million to local charities and communities.
