Parks getting campsite upgrades

May 25, 2016 | 1:15 PM

The government is planning to upgrade campgrounds at three provincial parks, including Meadow Lake Provincial Park.

Later this year, crews will add electricity to the 43 sites at Kimball Lake campground that currently do not have power. The other 100 will see their electrical service upgraded. The work will also include making 43 of the 143 sites full-service, by adding water and sewer.

The Ministry of Parks says sites one to 68 will close for the season on August 15 for work to begin. Upgrades will begin on the rest after the Labour Day weekend.

Shellbrook-based Livewire Electric Ltd. was the successful bidder on the upgrades at Meadow Lake Provincial Park as well as at Good Spirit Lake, where the electricity is being upgraded at Aspen Campground. Some campsites at Lac La Ronge are also getting upgrades.
