RCMP puppy named by Battleford youth

Apr 26, 2016 | 8:56 AM

A submission from a Battleford boy was one of 13 chosen by the RCMP as part of its annual Name the Puppy contest.

Lucas Anthony’s submission ‘Jett’ was chosen as the best Saskatchewan suggestion. Nearly 16,000 entries were submitted with one submission selected per province and territory.

The names of the 13 puppies born this spring at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta., all begin with the letter J. Along with Jett, the names chosen include Jango, Jolt, Jade, Jorgia, Jude, Jix, Jax, Juno, Java, Jinx, Jazz and Jake.

Lucas will receive an 8×10 photo of Jett, a plush German Shepherd toy, an RCMP cap, and a certificate to honour his winning entry.
