Community cleanup day begins in the Battlefords

Apr 21, 2016 | 12:00 PM

Citizens grabbed gloves and bags and hit the streets to clean up the city today, April 21 for community cleanup day in the Battlefords.

Locals were encouraged to come to City Hall in the morning where they were given free gloves, garbage bags and a T-shirt to pick up loose trash around the city.

“A few years ago the United Way decided to the cleanup day,” Rose Silzer-Quinn, the events campaign coordinator for Battleford’s United Way, said. “North Battleford was also doing it so we decided to collaborate our efforts.”

Participants can go to any part of the city, whether it be their neighborhood or public areas, to clean up. Those who participated were asked to leave garbage bags on any street corner and the town’s employees would pick them up.
