Election 2016: North Battleford Mayor ready for future after election

Apr 6, 2016 | 9:36 AM

The new provincial election brings the same faces representing the city of North Battleford, and the mayor is looking forward to what comes next.

SaskParty leader Brad Wall is returning for another term as premier, along with Herb Cox returning as the representative for the Battlefords constituency.

Mayor Ian Hamilton said he has high hopes the SaskParty will continue on the same path they were on in the previous term.

“I have every expectation that the government will maintain and sustain their commitment to our municipal operating grant of one percent of the PST and I’m looking forward to their dialogue with the federal government as to how they’re going to participate in infrastructure funding.”

Hamilton added the city has developed a good line of communication with MLA Cox and the rest of the SaskParty over the past years.

“I do believe we’ve developed a good relationship with Herb and the cabinet provincially and look forward to continuing that relationship and continuing to work towards making not only North Battleford a better place to live, but also Saskatchewan.”

Hamilton added he looks forward to the next four years of collaboration and cooperation to make a difference for the people of North Battleford.
