Public school board announces new director of education

A new director of education has been appointed by the Living Sky School Division effective August.

David Hutchinson was most recently superintendent with Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools in Nanaimo, B.C. He has also spent time in Manitoba where he worked as the assistant superintendent with the School District of Mystery Lake in northern Manitoba, as well as several years in Saskatchewan; nine of which were spent as the superintendent of instruction and school services with the Regina Public School Division.

Over the course of his career he has worked in Kindergarten to Grade 12 education including classroom teaching, curriculum consulting and development, teacher education and high school administration. He is a graduate of the University of Regina holding Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Education as well as a Master of Education degree. Hutchinson also has a Bachelor of Arts in Indian Studies from the First Nations University of Canada.

Hutchinson will replace outgoing director Randy Fox who retires this year.
