Fatal highway crash case adjourned to end of month

The accused in February’s fatal crash on Highway 16 has had his case adjourned until later this month. 

Harry Weiss, 64, of Barrhead, AB. was not in court and his lawyer was reached by phone. His next appearance will be March 28th at 1:30 pm in North Battleford Provincial Court.                     

Weiss is charged with one count of impaired operation of a vehicle causing death and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

He was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 23. According to RCMP Weiss drove his semi-truck trailer though the ditch and median at the intersection of Highways 16 and 40 to avoid a head-on collision. He allegedly struck an SUV stopped at a red light on the other side of the highway, killing the driver.
