Battlefords lose community leader

A well-known Battlefords business leader has passed away.

Brian Maunula died Monday afternoon. Maunula engaged heavily with the community, serving as chair of the board that lead to the creation of the CUplex and director of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as several other positions.

He also coached and managed minor hockey clubs and served as President of the Battlefords Midget AAA Hockey Club.

According to his RE/MAX profile Maunula lived in the Battlefords for 16 years. 

He is survived by his wife, 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

A celebration of life is planned for Maunula for Friday March 4 at 1 p.m. at the NationsWEST Field House. In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting a donation be made towards a memorial at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.
