Accused in La Loche shootings may face adult sentence

Feb 22, 2016 | 2:24 PM

The case for the under-aged youth arrested for the shootings in La Loche last month continued Feb. 22 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.

Notice was served to the defence on Jan. 25 that the crown applied for adult sentencing in the case of a conviction. However, that has been deferred to a later hearing.

The youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared via video from Saskatoon. He showed no emotion and often looked at the rooms surrounding him.

He was asked two questions by the judge, neither of which received an answer.
