Five people charged in Onion Lake assault; two suspects at large

Five people have been charged after an assault on the Onion Lake Cree Nation north of Lloydminster. Police have yet to locate 25-year-old Warren Littlewolfe and 37-year-old Gene Takakenew.  

On Monday morning, Feb. 15, Onion Lake RCMP were called to a home on the First Nation. An investigation found firearms may be at the residence. The Emergency Response Team, two police dog service units, as well as additional members responded and police then surrounded the house.

Nine people were arrested at the scene including seven men and two women. Five people have been subsequently charged including Takakenew, Littlewolfe, 46-year-old Calvin Carter and 27-year-old Trevor Carter all from Onion Lake. They face charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats and committing an offence for the benefit of a criminal organization. 26 year-old Loewen Wolfe is facing the same charges in addition to a charge of assault with a weapon.

Those charged were scheduled to appear in Onion Lake Provincial Court on Wednesday morning, Feb. 17.
