Nine people arrested at Onion Lake

Nine people have been taken into custody on the Onion Lake Cree Nation north of Lloydminster.

RCMP were called Monday morning Feb. 16, about an assault at a home. The detachment then used social media such as Twitter to ask people to stay away from the scene, while also advising nearby residents to stay inside. Police said there was no threat to public safety.

It was over by 9:45 p.m. when RCMP said the situation had concluded with the arrests of seven males and two females. They thanked the public for their cooperation.

The investigation is ongoing and the Mounties are asking people to continue to observe the boundaries around the scene.
