City snow removal coming in below budget

Feb 12, 2016 | 12:28 PM

A strong El Nino bringing warmer weather, has benefited the city of North Battleford’s operations department this year by keeping the streets relatively snow-free.

The city’s Communications Director Suzanne Abe said there have been no major obstacles to clearing the limited snow the city has had so far this winter.

“Snow removal is going good so far,” she said. “We haven’t had that much snow compared to last year.”

The city’s annual budget is established each January. Since there has been limited precipitation so far this year, the city is well within its allotted budget for snow removal. However, Abe warns that winter is not over yet.
